Clifton B. Chadwick, Ph.DCritical Thinking: Research and PublicationsDr. Chadwick has studied and research cognitive strategies, metacognition and affective variables in critical thinking since his doctoral studies with Dr. Robert Gagne. He has written extensively on the subject.Innovative project design, development and implementationDr. Chadwick has thirty years of successful sector analysis, project development and project implementation in developing countries. Currently a Senior Lecturer on International Management and Education Policy at the British University in Dubai and Visiting Lecturer at the University of Birmingham, he previously was the Senior Curriculum Advisor to the Ministry of Education and Culture of the newly formed Democratic Republic of East Timor (through World Bank financing). Prior to that post he was the Senior on-site Project Manager in the most important country-wide education reform project in the Middle East, in Qatar (through the RAND Corporation). He has been actively involved in analyzing needs and the nature of systems requiring improvement of educational quality. He was co-author of the first "sector analysis" in education, in Korea, for USAID, Team Leader for a World Bank Social Sector Analysis in Honduras, author of the Education Sector Analysis in Equatorial Guinea and many other similar social audits and projects. In the area of school planning and development Dr. Chadwick formed two major private schools in Nicaragua and subsequently his own private K-12 school, The Chadwick School, in Santiago, Chile, which he owned and operated for ten years. He also participated in the development of private and subsidized charter schools in Qatar as part of the national Education Reform movement. In the UAE he has carried out extensive analysis of government policies to improve education. Dr. Chadwick has advised Ministries and Ministers of Education throughout the world with particular reference to educational reform issues. He has developed education and health projects for World Bank, USAID and private foundations (including preparation of several successful proposals), through the OAS and UNDP and other organizations. Dr. Chadwick has extensive experience in curriculum, evaluation of learning, project evaluation, textbooks and educational materials and instructional design, educational technology, teacher training and evaluation and has been a decisive leader in South America in the development of the concepts of cognitive strategies, metacognition and affective variables in learning. Dr. Chadwick has performed wide-ranging work in teacher training including much graduate-level University teaching and investigating new methods to improve teaching. PublicationsDr. Chadwick has published twenty textbooks in three different languages on a wide range of education issues. He was the Editor and main force behind a widely distributed and highly acclaimed journal of educational technology and psychology, Revista de Tecnología Educativa, and member of editorial board of several other publications.
