In a letter to the President, the author gives his reasons for writing this story told from the grunt level in the trenches of a German soldier. This a story inspired by the classic story "All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Marie Remarque, and the network made for television movie by the same name starring Richard Thomas. This story takes the elements at the end of the story and asks the question, what if a soldier came home from the western front. It is a love story that examines the elements of war, and human rights, and marriage
