I’ve not read much historical fiction; what I have is limited to a particular historical figure, and I attributed my interest to this. So picking up a novel where my knowledge of the time period was limited was a little a daunting. I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy it. Turns out it was brilliant. It’...

bookshelves: historical-fiction, mystery-thriller, plague-disease, books-with-a-passport Recommended to ☯Bettie☯ by: vivienne Read in May, 2008 An enjoyable and mildly supernatural romp through superstitious and pestilent times; some of those story lines were easy to see through but that didn't ...

I think the cover of this book first attracted my attention to it while browsing in my local bookstore. It stuck out from the crowd so I read the blurb and took it home with me (after paying for it, of course). It's a kind of medieval road movie with a bit of murder and mystery thrown in. Actually, ...

This story is so atmospheric, it's easy to follow the characters as they travel across land to avoid the Plague. A thoroughly enjoyable read and a page turner as each character has a secret especially the magician and his cart full of boxes that absolutely no one must touch and his selfish attitude...

Historical Suspense. The Black Plague has overtaken England and a small group of travelers decide to band together for safety. Very compelling reading, loved the characters, the setting, and the historical details.

Heh heh ... I'm not exactly sure what to say. It was pretty "out there", but for the most part I liked it. There were some parts that just plain weirded me out, though.Okay, well, as for the plot, I found it very interesting and compelling. It was like, sort of historical fiction but a little bit o...
