I usually love Neil Gaiman's books so I didn't feel worried picking this one up after Beloved. I figured if anyone could hold their own after a masterpiece it should be him. No. Other than an interesting idea (made stronger in the film) this book held nothing for me. It was too simplistic. Maybe it'...

Author: Neil Gaiman Adaptation & Illustration: P. Craig Russell Pages: 186 Wonderful. Whimsical with a slight hint of creepy. Coraline is a bright, adventurous child who doesn't get enough attention from her parents, but she's perfectly capable of occupying her time exploring. There is a cas...

I enjoyed listening to this far more than I enjoyed reading the same story in print the first time around. And I love the cat. Part of that may have been Gaiman's delivery of the cat's lines. Oops, I forgot to add that the rats' singing was super creepy.

For more reviews, check out my blog: Craft-CycleA good adaptation of Neil Gaiman's Coraline in graphic novel form. There was nothing wrong with this book. It was good. It follows the story with interesting illustrations. What hurts this graphic novel most is that the film adaptation (which has entir...

The first fiction book from Gaiman was promising enough to make me look for more of his books.

Another stellar graphic novel by Neil Gaiman, I am starting to be a stalker of this man. I have read the novel of Coraline but as I was volunteering the other day at the library, I came across this graphic novel as I was organizing this section in the children’s department. Neil’s name nice and bold...

I’ve been meaning to read a Neil Gaiman for ages and decided to go with Coraline for my black cat square. It intrigued me and didn’t demand much of a time investment as it’s only roughly 80 pages. Coraline is a dark fairy tale about a little girl who gets bored and decides to go exploring. She pic...

There was a film adaptation of Coraline released in 2009 that was amazing and will be referenced throughout this review. SUMMARY Coraline Jones, a bored tween, finds a more interesting life through a magical portal in her new house’s drawing room where her Other Mother wants to love her and keep h...

Coraline by Neil Gaiman I am going to write my own long-winded summary because none of the other ones presented on Goodreads seems to lend the actual story any justice. Of course, it is also possible that I've pretty much told the entire story already in the paraphrasing following this needless i...

This is the first book I have read by Gaiman, but will most likely will not be the last. This is a fascinating and creepy tale, that is simple, yet amazing and fun to read. The story is pretty fast-paced with lots of weird little details thrown in. I watched the movie when it first came out and I don...
