Raised by a children's librarian and a sex therapist, Cory grew up to be a sexuality educator and writer.He received his Masters of Education from the University of Toronto, and was a founding member of the Come As You Are Co-operative. Cory teaches across North America on topics including sexual communication, sexuality and disability, technology, access, and inclusion. Cory runs the sexuality site for About.com and the co-author of The Ultimate Guide to Sex and Disability with Miriam Kaufman and Fran Odette.What Makes a Baby and Sex Is a Funny Word are the first two books in a series of kid's books Cory is writing for Seven Stories Press about sexuality, sexual health, and gender. He has eight nephews and nieces, all of whom know where babies come from.

I really appreciated that this book spoke genuinely to the (presumably young) reader and didn't try to push any moral agendas or present body-negativity. Even as an adult, I loved the simple way things were stated and the thoughtful questions posed at the end of each chapter.

The strength of this book was that it made the topic into a narrative and gave it that kind of logic. So the book does something unique beyond the information you could just get from wikipedia, and justifiex its own birth as a paper, hard-cover, four-color book.
