Excerpt from CourageAfter having read my book called "Youth" some of my friends, chiefly young persons, requested me to write a shorter work on the same subject; one which could easily be carried about and read, and which, above all, should contain a few necessary suggestions for a working ideal.In the face of such a demand it was not possible for me to offer as an excuse the trouble it would give me. While trying to do what was asked of me, however, I have endeavoured to repeat myself as little as possible. The present volume is not, therefore, a summary of "Youth." It is a new work, which has its individual character and aim.
