"Cracked" has Cool carved into its forearm with a Stanley Knife. The opening draws Meda, our evil-but-wittily-self-aware more-than-human teenage heroine, in a series of fast, confident, blood-red claw strokes that create an image as clear and succinct as a Kanji. We start at night, with a crazed...

This was an awesome ride. Meda is the coolest heroine I read in a long, long time. Not only because she is a bad-ass monster with (some) morals - no, it's because her very honest and not in the slightest apologetic inner monologues are brilliant fun. She knows herself, she knows she is not "good...

Oh, my dear Meda. What a snarky little bitch you are. I love this character, especially since she is the MC and not a side character smushed in for comic relief. She is manipulative and conniving and totally fun. It is refreshing to see an MC that isn’t some perfect porcelain doll. Meda is flaw...

. . I surely have a weakness when it comes to bad heroines… I’m kind of tired of good o goody miss perfect, always doing the right thing at the right time, always saying the right thing that lights your spirit and so on… Aren’t you???. Meda is everything a bad heroine should be and so much mo...

Disclaimer! I got this book from NetGalley in return for a fair and objective review. Andromeda "Meda" Melange isn't a very nice person. Frankly, she eats people, well, their souls anyway. She tries to limit herself to the souls of bad people, usually killers whose victims' ghosts have a tendency...

Meda is a pretty snarky & bitchy MC, so I guess you either love or hate her (I loved her). The plot and world-building is not mind-bogglingly unique, but it's not full of trope or clichés either, so it feels pretty fresh & interesting. Mostly it was Meda herself that made me like the book so much ...

My thoughts are somewhat addled at the moment...it appears that my brain cells are otherwise occupied doing the macarena, and jumping up and down while screaming: OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG!! THIS WAS SO GOOD!! Things in which this book rocks! A crazy confident , somewhat evil let's call her morally amb...

The only conversation between us is the tap of our feet.Pit-pat, mine say. Pit-thunk, hers reply. Pit-pat, mine insist.Pit-thunk, hers maintain. Pit-shuffle-shuffle.My little skip and slide earns a funny look from Jo. What? It's tiresome the way they argue. Meet Meda; she eats people's souls. I jerk...
