Crystal J. Stranaghan was born in a small BC coastal town called Ocean Falls, best known for its pulp and paper mill, excessive amount of rain and resident ghosts. When the town closed, her family moved to Vancouver Island. In 1996, Crystal moved to the big city of Vancouver to attend Simon Fraser University, and because she felt it didn't rain quite enough in Vancouver, she moved to Ireland (another place known for its rain and its ghosts) to complete her Masters Degree in Health Psychology. Upon returning to Vancouver, she turned her focus to the writing and publishing of books. You can see the recurring themes of rain, ghosts, and social responsibility reflected in her writing. These days, Crystal spends her time writing and traveling around the country teaching people about writing for children, publishing books and speaking at all kinds of interesting events.
