I began writing in 2005 in earnest, and completed the first Xanatos book in 2008. It was about five years of hard work, but I really enjoyed finally putting ideas into print. When I read, I like something that's got a quick start and doesn't belabor the plot development. I'm super critical at times, but when I love a book, I really love it. I especially like the young adult voice, but find that most of the books out there belittle, or just ignore the wavering maturity of young adult readers.I guess I'm really a post-young adult author, because I definite stretch the content to a darker, grittier and hopefully more real level, which includes sexuality and all the other rock and roll. I've taught adolescents of all ages for almost ten years, so I have some insight into the "real" world of the teen/young adult. I write for the 16-30 crowd, when things make a little bit of sense, but there's still that struggle to figure the rest of it out.I grew up dyslexic and AD/HD, though greek didn't come naturally to me, even though I did take it in college to great success. (Riordan is great, I just wish he'd spend a little more time with those of us who have the issues he writes about so he can represent them a little bit more accurately. Which he's doing in his new series, and I applaud his growth.) The point is, writing never came easy to me, so I tend to create things a bit differently than others. Which of course makes editing a nightmare for a little while.I hope to finish Xanatos main storyline this year, but plan on writing inside that world for a few more series. My background in religion and psychology makes it too much fun to play with the alternate history and interconnected mythology.I'm pretty communicative when I'm not actively writing, so I always love to hear from readers.
