Arbie's Unoriginally Titled Book Blog
This slender, largely understated and unpretencious novel shows Simmons at his best; it's not bloated, doesn't have irrelevant lit. crit. essays stuffed into it and quietly grips despite mostly pretty low stakes. You go to the moon; you walk on the moon; you come back. Now what? Richard Baedecker ...

This wasn't a terrible book. It started off well, and has an interesting premise, and was really good for regrettably brief moments. But it was a struggle - there were long passages of boring in between and the ick factor was high with repeated graphic rape/sexual assault and violence scenes. Gratui...

I listened to the unabridged audiobook. I have to thank my library and Overdrive for saving me some cash, especially since too many of the stories here were a little meh for my liking. This anthology features stories about the fear of flying and the terrible things the imagination and reality can coo...

For me, Simmons is a historical horror or sci-fi horror writer first, and then a straight forward Sci-Fi writer. But this book is about stories, poetry, and religion A group of performers is forced to perform Shakespeare's greatest plays and if they fail, the human race is doomed. Doomed, doome...

Eh. Definitely not worth the $9.99 I paid for this. A new anthology edited by Stephen King though equals I have to read it though. There were some truly what the hell did I just read reactions to some of the short stories, and a few good grief this is boring. I only really enjoyed four stories out o...

Dan Simmons hat sich bei "Terror" einer wahren Begebenheit bedient und zeigt in diesem Roman, was wohl geschehen sein könnte. Im Jahr 1845 sind die S...

Synopsis: Against a backdrop of interstellar war and looming apocalypse, the drama of seven pilgrims on a hopeless mission expands. Review: I fucking loved this book. The first book dragged a bit, and didn't really answer the questions that I had so I was a little hesitant about getting to the sec...

This is a book 0f many smaller stories compiled into one larger story structured like Chaucer's Cantebury Tales. I don't think I can add anything that other excellent reviewers haven't already said. I loved this book and I think you will too.

Dan Simmons’s 2007 epic horror novel, The Terror, is the finest work of his I’ve read yet. A historical fiction, this long story documents the failed 1845 Franklin Expedition. It’s been a long time since I’ve read a horror novel of this stature. I’ve read a lot of short, grisly stuff lately, so it w...

I still haven´t gotten around to reading the sequel to Hyperion and it´s been some time since I read this book. So I decided to listen to full cast narrated audiobook. The narration is excellent and it´s been a joy to listen to the seven stories told by seven different voices. I have to say, thoug...
