Darice Bailer wanted to be a writer ever since she was in elementary school. That's when she fell in love with Beezus and Ramona, Henry Huggins and author Beverly Cleary's gang and dreamed about being a writer just like Mrs. Cleary. Today Darice IS a writer, and one day she hopes to write books that will be beloved by generations of children, just like Mrs. Cleary has! For now, she has written over 60 books for young readers, and her books have been Junior Library Guild Selections and Parents' Choice Award winners - Parents' Choice Gold and Recommended. She continues to sit down at her desk each day and create more books to delight and teach young readers.
