Not bad, not bad at all. I would actually rate this book 4 stars if it didnt seriously go against some of my core moral beliefs, yea those pesky morals ruining a good book. still deciding if i should knock off half or a whole star for that. Anyhoo..... the rest of the book was pretty good, Nikki h...

Oh... I liked Dark Descendant. And there was no romance. At least not involving the main character which was refreshing.

Dark Descendant by Jenna Black!Ok, I'm a fan! The way she incorporated fantasy and urban was great and and their version of the world actually made sense and didn't leave me with a sense of 'what the heck?!'. So the book is about a woman named Nikki Glass (LOVE the name btw) and she like 24? I don't...

Hmmm...I might read this. I'm not a huge urban fantasy fan. But seeing that its based around a descendant of Artemis - the virgin goddess - I'm interested to see what on earth is going on with that. Has the author done research on the mythology or just making things up for the sake of it? Questions ...

Nikki is a private detective with a difficult past, a loving family and an unusual case – emit believes his sister has been taken by a cult and wants her to investigate. Normally she’d listen to her instincts, but since it’s an ideal excuse to get out of an awkward blind date, it sounds much more ap...

Awesome first in series! The action starts right from the get go and continues right until the end.I loved Nikki. She had just the right mix of confidence and insecurities to make her likable and believable. We get to see a good amount of 3 or 4 secondary characters, but I'd hoping to see more backg...

Though it was a good start to a series, it lacked some of the depth in characterization, world-building, and mythology that I'd been hoping for. I will be reading the sequel, however, as it does look promising.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book, granted it is my first book by this author. I was puzzled a bit by the characters in this story, while the 'bad' guys are definitely evil, the 'good' guys are really different shades of grey. Nothing is plainly 'good' and Nikki is quite mundane for a goddess-...

The first things that attracted me to Dark Descendant were 1) the author and 2) the cover.I mean, really. You have to admit: the cover is pretty kickass.I'm a fan of Black's YA paranormal fantasy Faeriewalker series. That was partly why I picked up this book -- I had no idea it was an adult series -...
