This book takes you through the adventure of Natalie Stewart in diary form. For those that don't often like this form, it is set in such a way you get lost in the story rather than being constantly interrupted. The only time this bothered me was toward the end. I had a hard time believing she would ...

Rating: DNFI can't claim to have been expecting a lot from this book, but I wasn't expecting this. I enjoyed Natalie as a narrator, but there was far too much insta-love going on with Lord Denby, not to mention childish dialogue. For fans of Oscar Wilde's DORIAN GRAY, this is a poor comparison. Also...

I liked it, but I read it in such fits and starts I never really was "into it." I liked the atmosphere and the idea, but it felt a little (hmm, what word am I looking for here) thin, yes, that's it. It reminded me of the Diviners, but it didn't grab me the way that book did. I'll definitely continue...

A+++++ I LOVED this book and I'm on to the next, The Twisted Tragedy of Miss Natalie Stewart. Above par writing with a great story.....I fell in love with Natalie, Jonathan and Mrs. Northe, great characters.

It is generally thought that all men like their women silent. So it should not be to difficult for a mute young woman such as Natalie Stewart to fit straight into New York City's frivolous society. But Natalie longs for more than to catch a man and embroider. She longs for a life like those she's re...

I heard a lot of mixed reviews about this book. I went into it thinking it was just going to be some historical murder mystery. It was so much more than that!Natalie and Jonathan are great characters with some very steamy scenes! Very romantic. I've never read a book about a mute before Darker Still...

"Darker Still" is a gothic romance set in the late 1800's. It's a good read at first; Natalie is engaging and likeable, and I was intrigued by what is clearly a retelling of the Picture of Dorian Gray. Unfortunately, the more I read, the less invested I was in the story. There's a bad case of instal...

A very unique historical fantasy book surrounding a mute girl and a haunted portrait of a young English Lord.Set in 1880 New York, Natalie is a young woman who comes across a stunning portrait of a young Lord and seems drawn to it. The book is written as if it's Natalie journal, so we're privy to he...

So Darker Still was a whole new kind of read for me. I'm not that much of a fan of historical fiction but this book is seriously making me reconsider that. Natalie was the kind of heroine I dream of in any book I pick up. She was smart, sassy, quick witted, and she didn't mind fighting for what she ...

A good, quick read with a clever premise and characters I really enjoyed. I look forward to the sequel.
