David Berry is co-gatherer with Rab Wilkie of the book of interactions with Namgyal Rinpoche titled Tales of Awakening. David studied with Ananda Bodhi in 1971 and when the Bhikkhu was ordained as Namgyal Rinpoche, traveled with him to Antarctica, the Arctic, and diving in Indonesia. A few weeks before his death, Namgyal Rinpoche ordained David on September 11, 2003. David is currently Chair of the Dharma Centre of Canada www.dharmacentre.orgDavid leads ceremonies at the Prayer Vigil for the Earth on the National Mall in Washington DC, www.oneprayer.org and conducts classes and retreats internationally. Often, his spiritual work is woven into talks and his facilitating on environmental and sustainability topics. He was invited to speak on sustainability and spirituality at the Russian Academy of Science to scientists from around the world. David worked for Resources Canada and at the White House Council on Environmental Quality for six years chairing Interagency Groups on Sustainable Development Indicators and Industrial Ecology which he co-founded. The groups under his leadership, raised awareness of environmental, social and economic trends, supported collaboration among Agencies and encouraged creative action by individuals and organizations. David performed on Korean and American television and radio including on NPR on Garrison Keillor's "Prairie Home Companion". He inspires people to calm down, get in touch with their vision and inherent capacities and move forward to make a contribution. He lives near Washington D.C. and has a centre on Chesapeake Bay.
