At the end of the 1990s, photographer David Drebin began to make a name for himself as an internationally successful fashion and advertising photographer. His clients have since included the likes of internationally renowned companies such as Davidoff, Mercedes, MTV, Nike and Sony. Drebin's works have been published in magazines like Elle, GQ, Marie Claire, New York Times, Rolling Stone, and Vanity Fair.While at first glance, it may seem as though Drebin pictures the world of the rich and beautiful, his work actually work actually plays upon the hopes and illusions of the American dream. Only at a second glance do the strong emotions under the seamlessly smooth surface become apparent, sometimes only indicated by a gesture, a glance, a tear, one movement, or the minutest indication of action. From resplendent panoramas to glamorous stagings, Drebin tackles big emotions like humour, love, sex. With these basic themes as a backdrop, he creates images of gripping intimacy and closeness. The observer feels the tension, and more often than not--the melancholy. David Drebin was born in Ontario, Canada. He has lived in New York City since concluding his studies at the Parsons School of Design in 1996.
