In spite of an educational background that began with a double-major BA in Psychology and Middle Eastern Archaeology, David cut his teeth as a highly recognized chef during 1970s and 1980s, helping pioneer haute-health cuisine. In 1991, he returned to his alma mater, the University of Texas, and became a registered dietitian while completing research and coursework toward a regrettably unfinished Ph.D. While at U.T., David taught food science and nutrition labs while practicing as a nutrition counselor. Since entering food and nutrition journalism full time in 1995, he's written and edited for more than 50 magazines and newspapers, sat on a number of editorial advisory panels, and has provided recipes for more than a dozen books and television shows. In 2003 David founded the S/F/B Communications Group cooperative, naming Dr. Mark Anthony as co-director. David currently is the Nutrition Editor for FIRST for Women magazine and lives in New Jersey.
