Not for me. The story of East of The Mountains is about a retired thoracic surgeon who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. He hasn't told his family. He doesn't want to die from the illness, so he takes his dog and his shotgun and sets out on one last hunting trip. The trip is derailed prett...
In the vein of Anthony Robbins, this was a great examination of "changing your pattern". Ben Givens sets out on a mission to end his life (not a spoiler) and on the way, he encounters some very interesting people who give him pause.
I'm still trying to decide if I owe my book club an apology for suggesting this one. On one hand, this novel includes an interesting snippet of history and some beautiful descriptions of the Pacific northwest. On the other, I almost added it to my just-keep-skimming shelf because I couldn't get over...

The book has a back and forth nature and several times- during my first read- I kept on needing to go back and forth to recall what happened earlier. The book has several events happening in the present time, based on several characters. This is the murder trial. A reported subsequently begins a pri...
wahhh chick-lit. if you want extremely sentimental descriptions of wind-blown puget sound pacific north west forests with fuzzy-focus romanticism, then this is the book for you.writing is skillful, not a two-star, but probalby perfectly located at 3/5.
I would never have bought or willingly read this book had I seen it in the library or a bookshop. But I've been forced to read it, as this is the main book my teacher chose for our AS year. People say hate is a very strong word. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate this book. For me, hate isn't even the...
