Another great read from historian David McCullough. I like his shorter works, as he is very detailed in his writings. There were a lot of people to keep track of and a lot of geographical area to cover (luckily there was a map in the front of the book). The pictures of the aftermath are amazing and ...

My first audiobook! I chose a topic of which I had prior knowledge, but I was surprised how many new things I learned from McCullough's account of the Wright brothers' journey to making the world's first controlled, powered flight in an airplane. Like all good historical nonfiction, the account inte...

This is a concise and minutely researched biography of the Wright Brothers’ accomplishments. Although the account is well-known, Mr. McCullough has revitalized it with a wealth of details, large chunks of material and newspapers embellishments. With an artist’s touch the author has recreated the liv...

Since the book is really interesting, I suggest the print version over the audio. The story of the Wright Brot...

This is the disastrous that most cell phone bills still pay for (at least here in the US). McCullough’s history of the flood includes the disaster as well as enough pre and post story to make sense of the larger sense. It will make you cry and be amazed.

What a ride (a 55+ hour one to be precise, for those of you who are listening to this as an audiobook, as I did). Truman's life and presidency span what I think of in my made-up historical heuristics as "the olden times" to modernity (e.g. hey, my parents were alive for that!). From his bespectacled...
