His web page, Coyote's Guide to IDL Programming, has long been one of the most informative and interesting web pages in the IDL world. David writes the articles on the web page with Coyote, a poet and ne'er-do-well, who has been associated with David for the past 20 years. You never know if the next article will be about their adventures, Coyote's love interests, or how to use some amazing piece of software David has invented to do something incredibly useful in IDL. His freely available Catalyst and Coyote Libraries of IDL routines are used by IDL programmers around the world. David often tells Coyote stories in his IDL training courses to lighten the mood and put people in the right frame of mind for learning more about IDL.
