Author/pianist Dave Wild has been an active performer for over 45 years in Michigan, San Juan, Los Angeles, Honolulu and currently Texas. He is a longtime member of the Temple Jazz Orchestra and Waco Jazz Orchestra and performs regularly around central Texas. His CD wild sides, recorded in Los Angeles with his brother, bassist Ken Wild, was released in 2003. He has also written for and performed on recordings by TJO and WJO. Dave is also a respected authority on the music of John Coltrane. He co-authored the award-winning The John Coltrane Reference, first published by Routledge in December 2007 and due out in paperback in February 2013. He compiled earlier discographies on Coltrane and Ornette Coleman and has written liner notes for some 20 Coltrane releases on the Impulse label, including Sun Ship: The Complete Sessions, due out in spring 2013. Dave also contributed to the Grove Dictionary of Jazz and has written for such jazz magazines as Coda, Down Beat, Cadence, and Signal To Noise. He holds a masters degree (English) from Eastern Michigan University and a masters degree (jazz studies--composition/arranging) from the University of North Texas.
