Davina Jackson is a New Zealand-born, Sydney-based, international writer and promoter of progressive talents, trends and cultures.In 2013, her PhD, books and other achievements were endorsed by the British Academy (of Humanities and Social Sciences) and the UK Government awarded her an Exceptional Talent (world leader) visa.Currently she is developing new books for Thames and Hudson in London and DeGruyter Open in Barlin/Warsaw, and blogs promoting advances in the global environmental simulations movement.Trained as a newspaper reporter in the mid 1970s, she spent the 1980s as a writer and photographic stylist on glossy home design magazines including Belle and Vogue Living, then edited Architecture Australia 1992-2000, witnessing and influencing the Sydney Olympics property development boom. In 2006 she was promoted by New York publishers Phaidon as one of the world's top architecture commentators, listed with Zaha Hadid, Kurt Forster, Deyan Sudjic and others as selectors for 10x10_2, a tome surveying 100 key early 21st century architects.Her hardcover books include Australian Architecture Now (Thames & Hudson, 2000), Next Wave: Emerging Talents in Australian Architecture (Thames and Hudson, 2005). Her recent projects include:--A scholarship PhD thesis on Douglas Snelling, an important pan-Pacific interpreter of California modern design and (organic) architecture innovations from the 1930s to the 1970s.--Catalysing and promoting a new global technology network for applying space sensing and intelligent imaging systems to help solve the challenges of urban development and climate change (launched in Sydney October 2008).--Co-editing the world's first manifesto for the post-Google Earth environmental simulations/imaging movement.--Strategy partner for international light art engineer Mary-Anne Kyriakou's eco-ethical Smart Light festivals (Smart Light Sydney, 2009, and iLight Marina Bay in Singapore 2010 and 2012).More information at davinajackson.com and davinajackson.com/publications
