First book in the Kate Brannigan series and a great read. Kate tracks down missing song-writer Moira Pollock and shortly after that Moira turns up dead.
Nice light mystery reading - nowhere near as meaty as some of McDermid's more recent work, like A Place of Execution or the Tony Hill books. Don't plan on taking up the Kate Brannigan series unless I stumble across a cheap copy sometime.
I love the writing of Val McDermid. Kate Brannigan is not as twisted as Tony Hill and the writing style of this series is totally different, but I have still enjoyed it.
