The story is good as usual, but the framing is still a distraction from the story. It made sense when it was half story, half a separate backstory. Breaking it up into two separate parts like this could say something neat about narratives, but it doesn't. It just makes it all seem to lack cohesion, so I'm distracted from the story about a traitor in the ranks.
