Well, I should say that I didn't read the book but watched the TV adaptation - and I am assuming that the adaptation follows the book. On second thought, please tell me I'm wrong and the book is better....or different, because there were a lot of aspects of the story that were just annoying ..... ...

“Heaven and earth — of what are you thinking? Are the shades of Pemberley to be thus polluted?” Austen had no way of knowing it, but it wasn't Elizabeth Bennett that would pollute the shades of Pemberley; it was P.D. James. A couple of pages in, I thought "oh, this is looking good - 4 stars at ...

This wasn't high on my TBR but it was available on audiobook through my library. I figured that a cozy mystery based on Pride and Prejudice would be a fun, quick read. I was wrong. The author has done a admirable job of emulating the style of language and characters from the beloved Jane Austen class...

This is the first P.D. James book I’ve read, probably because I’m not a big fan of crime novels, but I was drawn in by it’s the historical time period. Death Comes to Pemberley has received mixed reviews. I enjoyed the plot and James did a great job of setting the book in the era of Pride and Prejudice. I also enjoyed the authors understanding of Darcy's and Elizabeth's motivations in Austen's novel. On the negative side, there were several insta...

One would expect something amazing to come from the late, world-famous murder mystery writer P.D. James taking on a sequel to Jane Austen's most beloved novel "Pride & Prejudice." Could this be a match made in heaven or just a literary crime? Find out from my review here https://tcl-bookreviews.com/...

I was not impressed. I liked the tone of the novel, I felt like James did a good job with Austen's language. However, I was struck a bunch by anachronisms. First, I relatively recently read The Poisoner's Handbook in which Blum describes the development of police techniques and forensic in the ea...
