After a trip to Africa where Deborah was caught in a desert sandstorm, harassed by monkeys and thrown in jail twice, she wrote the Max Remy Superspy series about a young girl and her new friend Linden, who are the youngest members of an elite intelligence agency called, Spyforce. This was published in the US as Spyforce. The Remarkable Secret of Aurelie Bonhoffen was inspired by her nanna's stories about friendly ghosts and was shortlisted in the Aurealis and Children's Book Council Awards and will be released in 2011 in the US as The Ghosts of Gribblesea Pier. She co-authored the Jasper Zammit (Soccer Legend) series with Australian soccer great, Johnny Warren and her latest book, Grimsdon, is about a group of lost children living in a flooded city with flying machines, sneaker waves and sea monsters. www.deborahabela.com
