by Anne Flosnik, Amanda Quick
This week's featured favorite is Deception by Amanda Quick. This is confection of a romance for readers who like kids, dogs, and laughter in their books. The heroine is a bookish virgin. She is absent minded and wonderful and the hero is part stuffy part pirate. The things that are the best abou...
very readable tale of Jared Chillhurst who escorts some goods back for Olympia Wingfield, an old maid at 25, raising her motherless nephews and studying a lot of documents including one that may lead to a treasure associated with Jared's family. He takes on a job tutoring her nephews, adventures fo...
A reread. I smiled all the way. Not that the book is funny - no it's not. It's a classic romance, but I smiled from the sheer pleasure of reading the old friend and enjoying it once again. It's like an old, favorite, comfy blanket. It might be slightly unraveling from age, but you still love it.
I wanted a comfort read after a bad week and I got one. Yes, there's a formula to the early AQ books but it's a formula that works and entertains. Olympia is slightly bluestocking, more interested in her maps & legends than in catching a husband. She's also taking care of her young nephews. Jare...
Fun. Love the hero's swaggering dad and uncle.
Immensely wealthy viscount falls in love with scholarly, absent-minded lady, poses as the tutor of her 3 unruly nephews, and has sex with her, all in the first fifty pages. The rest of the book is a slap-dash whirl of euphemistic sex scenes, non-sensical schemes, and laughable dialog and characteri...
I am a believer that romance novels should NOT be hilarious when the hero and the heroine are finally getting it on. Unless it's a rom-com/chick-lit book.So imagine my surprise when I start reading this book and so far it's ok. The prose is a little ... high drama for me and the heroine is flightier...
Oh, look! I read another.
This was a cute story I enjoyed when I read it so many years ago. I still remember it because it was so funny and well written. Of course, back in the early 90s, Ms. Quick was "smutty" to me. How times have changed. Olympia is suddenly mother to her three nephews. A tutor who really isn't a tut...
Not a favorite but not bad. The kids added to the storyline.
