This series is awesome stuff. I want to write a review for this but right now I cannot muster up the energy to do so and I'll probably forget to do it later, hopefully though I won't because this series deserves a good review.
3.5 starsThis book is a bit uneven for me. On one hand, I LOVE Jack's voice -- better than Pete. Probably because there's an impending doom waiting for Jack by the end of the day, as his thirteen years time comes up, and demon is ready to take his soul to hell. There's a sense of angst from Jack, be...
In the last book, Jack Winter came back from the dead to help Petunia “Pete” Caldecott in a case of missing children and hunt sorcerers that was under the command of a powerful sorcerer-ghost that the previous 16-years old Pete had bear witness him killing Jack. After banishing the ghost with her i...
Poor Jack, he made a deal, an unbreakable one to save his life. Now this deal will be the end of his life. He has a reason to live, Pete. His magic is not going to get him out of this. he'll make another deal. This deal, is not made with truths and fairness. His crow magic is drawing unwanted attent...
Not bad, but disappointing in comparison with Street Magic, where Kittredge did some interesting things with the genre and developed believable, non-stack characters. By comparison the same characters here seemed flat and their interactions stilted rather than tense. Giving up at 100 pages in since ...
First read January 30-31st, 2010; reread March 19-31st, 2011 Actual rating 4 3/4 stars. (I knocked one quarter star off for leaving me hanging at the end.I hate it when that happens!) If Street Magic was Pete's book, then this one was Jack's. This one was told from Jack's perspective (as the fir...
The only good things I have to say about this book...is that it's told from the POV of Jack and not Pete. The gritty, ugly back story is much better than it was from Petunia's POV. We get to see Jack's struggles as he tries to save his soul from the demon he made a bargain for nearly 13 years before...
There are a few things I enjoyed in the book. The gritty magic which Kittredge takes to the next level in this book with necromancers, fey, and death knocking on the door, then we have the banter and love/hate relationship between Jack and Pete. This couple is not for everyones taste (even the oth...
Black London is one of my favorite UF series. I love Jack and Pete. It was a big Thank You! moment when they finally admit their feelings and we are rewarded as much as them. I sigh everytime Jack says, "luv"... ahhhhhh. hehe ;)"I don't want to be your mistake, Pete." "Too late for that ... I'v...
