Like Philip Seymour Hoffman in the movie Before the Devil Knows You're Dead but better. Writing in what some reviewers have called "hallucinatory" prose, Johnson loves these tender, broken men (and their women) beyond reasoning.

A collection of short stories selected by Murakami. Even when all of them are related to birthdays, each one is unique, and they produce different emotions to the reader. I loved this book for this reason, and it was a practical introduction to other authors´ work that I will read later.
