Dr. Dennis E. Hensley is Professor of Communication (Writing for Publication concentration) in the Communication Department at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. He is the author of more than five dozen books and 3,500 newspaper and magazine articles, as well as stage plays, musicals, and film scripts. Dr. Hensley has written eight textbooks on aspects of professional writing, the latest of which is Finding Success with Your Dream Writing Projects (Bold Vision Books). The most recent of his eight novels is Pseudonym (Whitaker House). His book on futurism, Millennium Approaches (Avon), was a best-seller, as was his motivational book, The Power of Positive Productivity (Possibility Press). His academic articles have been published in The Pacific Historian, The Ball State University Forum, Echoes, and The Jack London Newsletter, and his 600-page opus The Annotated Edition of Jack London's Martin Eden (Taylor University Press) was hailed “a masterpiece of literary analysis” by American Literature Quarterly.Awards Dr. Hensley has received include the Dorothy Hamilton Memorial Writing Award from Ball State University, a Teaching Excellence award from Indiana University, the City of Fort Wayne Bicentennial’s Gold Medallion, and Distinguished Alumnus awards from T. L. Handy High School, Delta College, and Saginaw Valley State University. He was also named Distinguished Visiting Scholar in English and Journalism at the Graduate School of Communication Arts at Regent University, Distinguished Visiting Lecturer at Oxford University, Distinguished Visiting Literary Scholar at Moody Bible Institute, and Distinguished Visiting Professor of American Literature at York St. John University in England. From 1970–71 Dr. Hensley served as a sergeant in the United States Army and was awarded six medals for service in Vietnam.Currently, Dr. Hensley sits on the Board of Directors of the Midwest Writers Workshop (Indiana). He is an annual judge for all three of the major Christian writing competitions: the Gold Medallion/Christian Book Awards, the Christy Fiction Awards, and the Evangelical Press Association Awards. He is a columnist for Christian Communicator and a popular speaker at writers conferences worldwide.
