Dennis Herrick is the author of a historical novel, a mystery, several 99-cent short stories, and a textbook. Most of his fiction involves the American Southwest.He won the 2004 Tony Hillerman Mystery Writing Contest for his short story "Hunting Season," and he won the 2010 Society of Southwestern Authors Writing Contest for his short story "Missing." A native of Michigan, he and his wife now live beside the Rio Grande between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico. Herrick is a former daily newspaper reporter and weekly newspaper publisher.
