Schon immer fühlte sich Shasta von jenen Ländern im Norden magisch angezogen. Als er eines Tages erfährt, dass sein Vater gar nicht sein wahrer Vater ist und ihn als Sklaven an einen reichen und mächtigen Tarkaan verkaufen will, fasst er einen Entschluss: Gemeinsam mit den Pferd Bree flieht er in jenes glückliche Land im Norden, das Narnia heißt.
Eine Reise voller Gefahren und Abenteuer beginnt, bei der Shasta nicht nur interessante Weggefährten trifft, sondern auch herausfindet, wer er wirklich ist... (Cover-Text der dt. Ausgabe vom Brendow Verlag)
Der dritte Band der Serie spielt sich während der Regierungszeit der vier Pevensie-Geschwister in Narnia (dem Goldenen Zeitalter) ab. Allerdings geschehen die Ereignisse nicht in Narnia selbst, sondern in den Ländern weiter im Süden: Kalormen, die Wüste und Archenland.

Smiled at some bits, laughed at others, and loved the mare most of all. I liked the part about being told only your own story and the detail of the torn back. Oh, and the Pevensies' cameo (reading carefully, there are these minuscule hints of Susan being different than the other three too).
My reread of The Horse and His Boy was greatly improved by skimming all the boring bits (which ended up being most of the book for me). I'm not here for the Calormenes even though Aravis is my favorite character in the book.
O começo até que é divertidinho, mas para o meio até o final é bem chato. O livro está repleto de críticas a sociedade hindu, isso é óbvio e é aqui que podemos ver que Nárnia se passa por Europa, como sendo um lugar maravilhoso e de liberdade. A história é boba e previsível. Não lerei os próximos li...
