Derek Benz (born October 27, 1971) is an American author of fantasy & science fiction for children and young adults; he's the co-author of the popular Grey Griffins series, published by Scholastic, Inc, and Little Brown. Benz works in collaboration with J. S. Lewis on the series. Benz released "A Grey Griffin Companion" in July 2013, covering 155 pages of Grey Griffin facts, accompanied by nearly 60 illustrations.Benz has many hobbies, and currently is immersed deeply within the fields of genetics, nanotechnology, and artificial intelligence.He and his family live on the U.S. East Coast.
