There were parts of this that I really loved, and as always, Helen Frost's writing and structure are beautiful. I'm not sure why I didn't connect as much to this story as others of hers I've read.
This was a very interesting book from the very beginning. It's got some really great prose, and the story is unbelievably fascinating and compelling despite its tried-and-true nature.
