I've always wanted to be a writer, but put off writing professionally until I was in my early 30s. Sick of the corporate world, I finally left it and began a fulfilling second career writing for newspapers and magazines. My work has appeared in Parenting, Family Circle, Cook's Illustrated, Kiwi, The Boston Globe, The Atlantic's Food Section, Psychology Today, The Writer, Writers Digest, and more. In 2002, my friend Linda Formichelli and I got the fabulous opportunity to write a book, where we could share all our tips and tricks for a successful freelance career. I'm so thrilled that The Renegade Writer has been so helpful to so many writers.I graduated with a degree in American studies from Smith College in 1988. I also did some graduate work in English at Wesleyan University. My husband, son and I live in the northwest Boston suburbs with our two frisky cats. I teach freelance writers how to develop great story ideas (check out my website at www.ninetofive.com/classes), and when I'm not writing or teaching, I'm knitting.
