Worth reading the rantage for how things haven't changed in decades.Made me want to root out the Darkover books and re-read. I know Bradley has some problems and blindnesses but overall it's interesting and well worth a read.

Out of Avalon edited by Jennifer Roberson is a collection of Arthurian short stories by various authors. One story entitled The Heart of the Hill is set in Marion Zimmer Bradley's version of Avalon and takes place sometime in the middle of The Mists of Avalon during Morgaine's training to be a pries...

I really enjoyed reading Marion Zimmer Bradley's Ancestors of Avalon by Diana L. Paxson. In this story the combined kingdoms of Atlantis are destroyed by a cataclysm and the survivors must make their way to new lands to preserve their knowledge and traditions. The story kept me engaged despite being...

Marion Zimmer Bradley is famous for her Avalon books, but I'm a fan of her Darkover stories, set in an original world and a blend of science fiction and fantasy. I was impressed on reread of the first Darkover short story anthology, The Keeper's Price--basically a collection of "fan fiction" by othe...

This is the kind of story that I love when done well, in the tradition of Mary Renault's The Bull from the Sea and Mary Stewart's The Crystal Cave, Diana L. Paxson attempts to ground a story out of legend in history. In this case it's the tale of King Lear and his daughters that came down to us in G...

I got this book ages ago on the strength of it being edited by Marion Zimmer Bradley, one of my favorite authors back when this book was published in 1983. "Greyhaven" is one of the homes that MZB lived in, and "the spiritual home" to a community of writers, friends and family of the author who writ...
