TL;DR: if you want to read any of this series only read this one. The first time I listened to part of this audiobook I was around 12 and my mom had checked it out from the library. I remembered thinking then this family had some serious mental health issues. When I saw it on my library's digital ...

I did a lot of skimming to get through this book. I know that other people - most people - love this book, but I just can't get on board. I loved this book as much as Little Altars Everywhere. Although it focuses more on the friendships of Vivi and her friends there is still the relationship with Sidda woven throughout most of the book. I recommend both books for the whole story :)I love these books!

Lena Grove travels by shanks's pony to find an errant and absent man, who is to become a Daddy; along the way Lena meets various people and we get to learn alot about them, the south, politics and social strata. Whi...

The book is well-written and definitely has interesting themes but I just couldn't get into it. Perhaps I was suckered by the hype and simply expected too much from the book and the author.
