Don Herron is best known for leading the Dashiell Hammett Tour in San Francisco since 1977. The last four decades have been marked by edition after edition of his tour book, as well as his biography WILLEFORD on the cult crime writer Charles Willeford, and the guidebook THE LITERARY WORLD OF SAN FRANCISCO AND ITS ENVIRONS. Among other projects, he edited THE SELECTED LETTERS OF PHILIP K. DICK and the critical collection REIGN OF FEAR: THE FICTION AND FILM OF STEPHEN KING. His critical collections on Robert E. Howard, creator of Conan, are now available in the eBook "LitCrit MegaPack" THE DARK BARBARIAN THAT TOWERS OVER ALL. To disambiguate this Don Herron from others, he is not the author of THE SARIM nor is he the Canadian comedian Don Harron from HEE HAW, who writes books under the name "Charlie Farquharson."
