Donald John Maclennan was born in a traditional thatched Hebridean blackhouse on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides during the Second World War. Although his family moved to Glasgow he spent all of his childhood summers back in the village of Dalmore with his grandparents and uncles. Donald has written two books about his childhood memories of Dalmore which provide a unique insight into the old crofting ways of Lewis. The old village of Dalmore was abandoned in the 1970's and Donald John Maclennan is, most probably, the only person still alive who can remember the old days in Dalmore.
