Dr. Liu Dongfeng was born in Jiujiang City(literally means nine rivers), a beautiful place in Central China boasting the biggest fresh water lake (Poyang Lake), the longest river (Yangtze River)of China, and a UNESCO listed world heritage mountain(Lushan Mountain). He received his Ph.D degree from Shanghai International Studies University in the field of NGOs studies in 2004, and joined Shanghai University of Sport upon graduation. In 2009, he spent one year doing his post-doc studies on sports events and urban development at the Sport Industry Research Centre of Sheffield Hallam University as a visiting research fellow. He is now a professor of sport management and Associate Dean of the School of Economics and Management at Shanghai University of Sport. His main research interests include sport events management, sport and urban development, and sport policy studies. He has published some 20 articles in peer reviewed journals.
