Donna Janell Bowman grew up on a central Texas ranch where she cultivated a deep love of animals, a competitive spirit, and a passion for writing. Since leaving the corporate world, she has been writing for young readers, believing that they are the most important people in the world. Her short stories and articles have appeared in nationally acclaimed children's magazines and anthologies, and she is the author of several books nonfiction books for an educational publisher. Forthcoming books by Donna Janell Bowman include STEP RIGHT UP: HOW DOC AND JIM KEY TAUGHT THE WORLD ABOUT KINDNESS (Lee and Low, 2016), EN GARDE! ABRAHAM LINCOLN'S DUELING WORDS (Peachtree, 2018,) and KING OF THE TIGHTROPE: WHEN THE GREAT BLONDIN RULED NIAGARA (Peachtree, 2019.) She is the recipient of the 2015 SCBWI Book Launch Award and a 2015 SCBWI Work-in-Progress grant.
