Claire is an English woman who sees issues in a very stubborn black or white. She grew up in a household that was plagued by an alcoholic father who mentally and physically abused her, hence her passionate temperance views. She is courageous, fervent, and yes, a bit self-righteous in her belief that...

I found the plot, dialogue and romance to be quite weak in this book. Also I thought it was quite short in pages. It could have been really good - the plot sounded great from the synopsis on the back of the book, but the idea was far better than the actual story.

This story is cute. It had a lot of potential. The main heroine and her family are very well developed as well as the hero. However, there were a few elements that I just couldn't let go. First of all, she moves in with him without a female chaperone! This is Regency England. She is unmarried ...

What a dud. Oy. The plot and set up had sooo much potential but the actual execution was really disappointing and fell completely FLAT. It took me forever to finish this. I just could not get into it and I felt the story dragged out forever. One of my main issues with this was the heroine, Emma. I'm...

I struggled with this one. The plot is of (a) a runaway maiden pretending to be a widow so that she can take a position at a school where (b) she finds out she is expected to teach the girls about their "wifely duties," of which she is also (unbeknownst to the headmistresses) ignorant, so of course ...
