Douglas Savage has published seven novels and eight nonfiction books (all of the latter are books about the American Civil War). He is a graduate of the College of Wooster (Ohio), The Ohio Horseshoeing School (Xenia), and the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law (Ohio). His most recent novel, A MOUTHFUL OF DUST (Nortia Press, 2012), has been critically acclaimed as "powerful and haunting" and as "a literary feast." His favorite literary quotation from a Master is Ernest Hemingway's statement of December 10, 1954, upon accepting the Nobel Prize for Literature: "A writer should write what he has to say and not speak it." Of his current, nonfiction release, THE LAST YEARS OF ROBERT E. LEE (2016), Pulitzer Prize winning historian, Princeton professor of history and author James M. McPherson, PhD, said that, "Douglas Savage has portrayed the decline and fall of this famous American in heartfelt prose."
