Well worth your time, although not on a par with, say Pandora's Star, only because the characters here are just not that sympathetic or interesting. He still manages to throw new and fascinating ideas at you non-stop. As a former military guy, I found his "Skins" intriguing, as well as the weaponry....

It avoids most of the problems I have come to associate with him and has one great merit absent from them: it is about something!
