Dreena Burton has been vegan for almost 20 years, in that time writing four bestselling cookbooks charting her journey as a plant-powered cook and at-home mother of three.  Always passionate about creating nutritious recipes, she is an advocate of using the "vegan basics" to create healthy, delicious food for the whole family.  Affectionately dubbed the "Queen Bean" and "Vegan Cookie Queen" by her readers, Dreena is one of the pioneering vegan cookbook authors. Her cookbooks have garnered a loyal following, and Dreena has earned the respect and repute for reliable, wholesome recipes. Dreena graduated with distinction, receiving her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from University of New Brunswick. After working in marketing management for several years with an international satellite communications company, Dreena followed her true passion of writing recipes and cookbooks. The Everyday Vegan was her first project, following her father-in-law's heart attack. When the cardiologist strongly advised a low-fat plant-based diet to her husband's parents to reverse heart disease, Dreena knew there was information needing to be shared - most importantly, how and what to eat as a vegan. After having her first child, she wrote Vive le Vegan!, which represented her journey as a mom, and more wholesome, easy recipes. Then came eat, drink & be vegan, a celebratory recipe book which has become a must-have cookbook in the vegan community, known for its entire chapter on hummus and inventive flavor combinations. Dreena's latest cookbook "Let Them Eat Vegan", a whole-foods vegan cookbook that is entirely wheat and gluten-free and does not rely on vegan 'subs', made the amazon.ca bestseller list reaching top 5 of all books. Dreena has appeared on television and radio. She is a recipe contributor for well-known sites including KrisCarr, Forks Over Knives, Engine 2 Diet, and PCRM. Dreena has written for Yoga Journal, VegNews, alive magazine, and has been featured in other publications including First magazine. She has won several blog awards including VegNews, VegBloggy, and Vancouver's Ultimate Mom Blog. Her "Homestyle Chocolate Chip" video has become her signature cookie recipe and has received over 200,000 YouTube views. Dreena has been chosen to speak and cook at vegetarian and wellness events, and produces her own "Plant-Powered Kitchen" cooking videos. I don't seem to be getting around to trying many of these recipes, but there are some very imaginative offerings here that I've not seen in other vegan cookbooks.
