Duane Hanselman is an Associate Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Maine, USA. He received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1985. His Ph.D. dissertation involved the design of variable reluctance step motors and switched reluctance motors. Duane has used MATLAB since 1983 and has developed significant expertise in brushless permanent magnet motors (and generators), also called brushless DC motors, permanent magnet synchronous motors, and permanent magnet brushless motors. Duane provides consulting and expert witness services in the areas of motors, magnetics, and MATLAB.
