So I read "Faceless Killers" back in 2016 and never got back to the Kurt Wallander series. I enjoyed the tv show starring Kenneth Branagh and always meant to try to give the series another go when I got a chance. I dithered between 3 and 4 stars and mostly that's because it seemed this collection ...

As it turns out, Linda is an insufferable idiot and Kurt a permanently angry man. I normally like Wallander books but this one was exasperating. Two stars.

I really enjoyed the Swedish movie Let the right one in, based on a book by this author, so when I came across this free ebook on Amazon, I thought it would be a great way to get to know his writing. The actual story is only about ten pages long (the rest is promotion of his other works) and the s...

I like Mankell, but this book seems to have fallen into the "Silence-of-the-Lambs-Syndrome" that seems to have become endemic. It's not enough to have someone get killed in the heat of passion or for greed. Now killers have to have killed hundreds, kill animals, butcher little children, bring abou...
