This was my first exposure to both Jack McDevitt and his Alex Benedict series. I found this a very enjoyable read. Take away the sci-fi aspect, and the book is a damn fine mystery novel. I'm looking forward to trying more of McDevitt's works.

I don't understand why this isn't the Chase Kolpath series, rather than the Alex Benedict series, since while Alex is the guy in charge, it's Chase that the books are about. Very slow to start - we know info from the book jacket that takes 100 pages or so to be revealed in the book - and way too quick on the perfect little wrap-up at the end of the book, but I still enjoyed this installment of Alex and Chase.
