Edmund Kealoha Parker Sr. was born March 19, 1931 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Ed Parker grew up in Honolulu, on the island of Oahu. His parents emphasized the principles of obedience, responsibility, hard work, loyalty and a love of God and country, which remained with him throughout his life. He was known as the Grandmaster and Father of American Kenpo Karate. He climbed the ladder of progress to make a pathway brighter and easier for others to follow with his legacy of books, instructional manuals and DVD's of the knowledge he had amassed, refined and wanted to share with Martial Artists who would follow him in his system, American Kenpo Karate. His thirteen books are available as a book and in Kindle.His Kenpo Karate Creed he wrote emphasized what he wanted his students to live by."I come to you with only Karate, empty hands. I have no weapons, but should I be forced to defend myself, my principles or my honor, should it be a matter of life or death of right or wrong; then here are my weapons, Karate, my empty hands." Ed Parker Sr.Ed Parker started the International Kenpo Karate Association and it's famous IKKA patch in 1960. Ed's close friend Elvis Presley, showed a loving tribute to his friend Ed Parker by displaying Ed's IKKA crest on his guitar. The first commercial built school for Karate was built in 1964 in Pasadena, California. He started the International Karate Championships in 1964 in Long Beach, California. He asked Bruce Lee to come to his first IKC and invited producers from Hollywood to meet and see the talent of Bruce Lee which launched his career in the Green Hornet Television series. Ed Parker was asked to choreograph fight scenes for TV and movies throughout his life. Blake Edwards was also a dear friend who asked Ed to be in The Curse of The Pink Panther and Revenge of the Pink Panther. Ed even taught Lucille Ball, and Ethel Metz on one of the Lucy Show episodes.Ed worked diligently his whole life. He felt his talents were God given and he worked hard to develop his system with great detail and everything he did was meaningful. He touched thousands of peoples lives through his desire to help not only the individual but families be able to defend themselves. He never lost sight of the true Aloha spirit, he was a man many loved and admired. This was his life's mission and he accomplished so much in his lifetime. Pretty much the actual story but with wishbone as the narrator. Nothing tremendously different or added to it.
