Edith Royce Schade is a New Englander, a passionate photographer and reader. Her mother gave her May Sarton's then new memoir, "Plant Dreaming Deep" in 1971. That was the beginning of a journey that led to reading and collecting all Sarton's available books. Sarton's imagery inspired Schade's photography, which lead to correspondence between the two women, to personal friendship and eventually to "From May Sarton's Well. published by Papier-Mache Press in 1994. It was a finalist for a 1995 Benjamin Franklin Award. It is now published by Goodale Hill Press.
