Just the kind of historical fiction I love. Lots of historical details about a city that I know well and limited romance elements. If I wanted a romance story I would have read a historical romance. When I read historical fiction, I want heavy historical details and a in-depth presentation of the ti...
I enjoyed this book. But I think I was predisposed to like the novel as I love Paris. I enjoyed reading about the history. I liked reading about the trajectory of each family and how their lives were intertwined across the generations. Some of it was cliched, but overall it's a good read.

Author Edward Rutherfurd takes us through the families' history ... and how they intertwine ... from the 17th Century up through 1968.Along the way, we see the French Revolution, the Belle Epo...
Phew, that was a long read! Unlike The Pillars of the Earth, it was not always an easy read. I waffled a bit between giving it three or four stars, but ultimately decided that the wealth of historical information contained within, merited the higher rating. The book covered somewhere in the vicinit...
